100 Days Project

Sam: The raise of the mayfly

The unseen life beneath freshwater is an indicator of its health. Freshwater invertebrates are studied by ecologists and enthusiasts. But for some it’s only when they pick up a fly fishing rod or fly tying vice that the life of the river and the creatures within it emerge in the mind’s eye. The art/ craft of fly tying re-imagines these freshwater critters from a fishes perspective. Taking simple materials to create an imitation, impression, or just the vibe of these freshwater insects, all out of fluff, fur and feathers. In recognition of the life within our freshwater environments, its role as an indication of the health of our landscapes and waterways this is 100 days + 100 Mayflies/ 100 fly designs. ><:>
