One of our younger sisters, Sarah, started school at 5 year's old, got off the school bus and instead of going over to school with the other children, she crossed the road to the dairy and asked: "Could I have one chocolate fish please and put it on the account of B. O'Dwyer" (her father's account). This she did every day for a whole month until her father received his monthly bill totalling 30 chocolate fish in his name and all hell broke loose (as our mother used to say). It was our first look at our enterprising 5 year old sister and she was kept on a tight rein (another of our mother's sayings) as she exited the bus from then onwards.
Marie: And yet another story!
It seems to be a trait of the elderly to tell stories and often repeat the same stories. As our family has a major Reunion in February 2015 I will tell a family story each day and NOT repeat it for 100 days. I will use christian names from our earlier generations as pseudonyms.
