We thought the following story was very, very funny! Mum and all us kids were staying at the Mount and Dad had decided to come over and join us. He was a skilled reader, writer and a brilliant wiz at maths, but he had no sense or memory for directions. One day one of the children saw Dad sitting on the letter box outside our rental accommodation, and asked Mum what Dad was doing there. Mum was highly amused and guessed why he was sitting there, so told this child to go and ask him what he was doing. YES, he was looking for our house and here he was sitting OUTSIDE the house on the letter box quite lost. I think some of us teased him the whole of his life over that episode!
Marie: And yet another story!
It seems to be a trait of the elderly to tell stories and often repeat the same stories. As our family has a major Reunion in February 2015 I will tell a family story each day and NOT repeat it for 100 days. I will use christian names from our earlier generations as pseudonyms.
