The 4 youngest of our 2 families living side by side had a strong bond in times of trouble or grief. An old relative lived in a bach just out from the house, and one Guy Fawkes night they decided to light crackers under his bach. They then ran home and into bed and nobody knew they'd been near there that night. In the morning, we all soon heard that the old man had died during the night. What we didn't know for another 30 years was that these youngsters thought they had been responsible and that they had killed him! At least they were able to share their burden and their secret, as the years past. Now they would be helped to 'find closure' but not so in those days!
Marie: And yet another story!
It seems to be a trait of the elderly to tell stories and often repeat the same stories. As our family has a major Reunion in February 2015 I will tell a family story each day and NOT repeat it for 100 days. I will use christian names from our earlier generations as pseudonyms.
