I'm jumping forward to adulthood to our parent's 25th wedding anniversary. Everyone was going to be present except me. I couldn't get time off from my nursing training. The youngest was just 8 yrs old so most of us were still at home anyway. So I could be present, Dad said he would pay for a taxi, that was, 40 miles from TeAwamutu to the farm in Matamata. I cant remember the actually cost but it would be like about $300 these days. I'll always remember the young ones running out to meet the taxi I'm sure, rather than me! We were all so excited at the rare event. It was a very special day!
Marie: And yet another story!
It seems to be a trait of the elderly to tell stories and often repeat the same stories. As our family has a major Reunion in February 2015 I will tell a family story each day and NOT repeat it for 100 days. I will use christian names from our earlier generations as pseudonyms.
