Our brother Paul was determined to beat all of us in all manner of tasks and games but he was only young at this stage. We had visitors and young Paul said to the visitors "I can jump that hedge!" and proceeded to run as fast as his little legs would take him straight into the very middle of the hedge to the amusement and laughter of the visitors. Paul mightn't have been old enough to jump the hedge but he was old enough to be most embarrassed. We older ones watched, as the next couple of days and weeks young Paul practised and practised until he finally mastered a way to get over that hedge. Then at last, in front of all our family plus the visitors at home that particular day, he could finally prove himself!
Marie: And yet another story!
It seems to be a trait of the elderly to tell stories and often repeat the same stories. As our family has a major Reunion in February 2015 I will tell a family story each day and NOT repeat it for 100 days. I will use christian names from our earlier generations as pseudonyms.
