100 Days Project

Lu: 100 Big Days (and Nights) Out

I realised I have kept a heap of tickets to mainly music gigs & festivals over the years, as well as a lot of sports fixtures, from both here, UK and Europe. So each day there will be a photo of a ticket accompanied by a hazy memory from that gig… and a musical tip to go with it.

As I go, a playlist on Spotify called ‘100 Big Days Out’ will be built up of the tracks I single out from those gigs/artists/events. Check it out http://open.spotify.com/user/1230930937/playlist/68S65odxiGB6v7hz4exHTL

Day 47:

Little Britain Live, Hammersmith Apollo, London October 2006

Having written about the League of Gentlemen show for Day 36, I was sure (thinking back) that we had not seen Little Britain. Well, here is proof to the counter in front of me now. And I do not remember it at very well at all. Except that David Walliams is indeed, very, very tall and Matt Lucas in very, very fat. They were hilarious when they came on to telly screens, but I think by this point they really might have been flogging a dead horse with their characters and catch phrases - maybe this proves that there is indeed a shelf life for this sort of thing. I kind of thought the were running out of ideas as each new TV series came on - they almost seemed more interested in pushing the taste boundaries, and grossing you out more than tickling your funny bone. Still, they deserve massive comedy nods for coming up with such modern British icons as Vicky Pollard, Lou & Andy, Daffyd Thomas, Sebastian Love  and ‘Eehhh-eeehhhh!’ Anne. Actually, looikng back, I think I remember more clearly stumbling upon the actual Little Britain street one day in EC1 than this show. This is a strecth musically, I know, but here’s a Dreadzone track called ‘Little Britain’.
