We had great family friends and one family in particular would arrive with their children in pyjamas and tins of food ready for dinner. The adults would drink and play cards late into the night and we would find some place or other to share for a bed. Sharing by top and tailing on our own beds was best for us bigger kids although one could end up on the floor from too much kicking! When we were smaller two armchairs pushed together was the best and we would fit quite well by topping and tailing there. The biggest boy would usually try to bag the total sofa and sometimes Mum had to entice him to be fair and share with a smaller child. "Be fair and share" seemed to be a daily refrain in our lives!
Marie: And yet another story!
It seems to be a trait of the elderly to tell stories and often repeat the same stories. As our family has a major Reunion in February 2015 I will tell a family story each day and NOT repeat it for 100 days. I will use christian names from our earlier generations as pseudonyms.
