It was just something visitors and relations seemed to do in those days. They would say "Would you like to come home with us?" "You can come and stay with us." It had happened to me as I was very shy and rarely talked, and even then was unwilling to hurt people who were showing me kindness. I could viviidly remember my miserable week away, so I was wary when such teasing began, and ready to step in and help. This particular day though, I wasn't on the scene Erin was about three & a half, and pretty determined, so the family friends had to try and coax Lily out of the car again! Erin just remained where she was for about half an hour, in the middle of the back seat with her head down, until I could finally entreat her to stay home with us! I'm sure the friends learnt their lesson that particular day!
Marie: And yet another story!
It seems to be a trait of the elderly to tell stories and often repeat the same stories. As our family has a major Reunion in February 2015 I will tell a family story each day and NOT repeat it for 100 days. I will use christian names from our earlier generations as pseudonyms.
